A Few Fun Facts About Pine Trees
Pine trees are beautiful and unique for their appearance. You might notice they don’t have the traditional appearance of leaves. Pine trees have pine cones and needles. For some this is a huge annoyance, for others it’s something of beauty to admire. Here a few fun facts to learn about Pine Trees in North Carolina:
- They have thicker bark than normal
- Their needles remain on the tree throughout the entire year (for the most part)
- Contain Pine cones
- Squirrels, Sapsuckers and other animals eat seeds inside the pinecones
- They are used commonly as Christmas Trees
- Their lifespan is enormous (anywhere from a few hundred to thousands of years!)
